COMPLEMENT

Name

COMPLEMENT

Synopsis

Recomputes all hits for a term or subquery so that their weights fall between 0-1.

Arguments

Term or Subquery

Ranking Scheme

weight = 1 - weight

The weights are recalculated by subtracting each weight from 1.

Comments

COMPLEMENT is designed to "invert" weights. Typically this is done to make the most significant terms the least significant and vice versa. Often you do this when you wish to take the results of a certain concept or category and make them something you don't really want, but do not want to change all the weights to a single value. By combining COMPLEMENT and MYNORMALIZE you can modify weights to take any sort of "revaluation" you might wish so that they have the significance you require.

Example

COMPLEMENT( 'blue' );
